Message First of all, I bought a Z that had some major issues. These were problems that were not found by having an experienced mechanic work on the car. I spent over 24 hours of labor just to get the car running properly. If you want details, look at my webpage. My Z has been the antithesis of simplification, but I don't regret one minute of it. It has provided me with a hobby. There's a great sense of accomplishment when you install your first clutch on a Z32 and everything works perfectly. The fact that you just saved ~ $400 in labor is a plus too.

My wife HATES the car. With a passion. She thinks it's nothing more than a money pit, which may not be far from the truth. I tend to look at it more as a perpetual work-in-progress.

When we had 5 Z32s in caravan from Bakersfield to the Motorsport show, I couldn't wipe the grin off my face the whole way down (and this was after only 3 hours of sleep). I looked over at the other guys and thought for a minute how I wouldn't even KNOW these great individuals if not for the Z. The guys down in LA that get together all the time (see Zhound's post below) know what I'm talking about. There's nothing like calling up your buddy and having him come over for nothing more than a 5 hour detailing session on the car. It's a labor of love.

The car is nearly paid off, and I don't think I'll be selling it in the forseeable future. I've put too many hours of bloody knuckles, sweat, and strings of curses to see my baby go to someone else.

You wanted a rant, and I suppose you got it.. =)
